OUR PASTOR

Our New Pastor and His Wife

Pastor Joel Albert Hoff was born in Ixonia, WI, to Reverend Lance and Melanie Hoff.  He is the fourth of six children who attended Peace Lutheran School in Reedsburg while their father served in Hillpoint and Lime Ridge, WI.  Their family moved to Helenville, WI, during Joel’s sophomore year at Luther Preparatory School.

At Luther Prep, he had an opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Ukraine.  This mission trip encouraged him to pursue studying for the ministry.  He started on the teacher track but transferred to the pastoral studies during his second year at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.  After graduating from MLC in 2006, he participated in a one year mission trip to Albania through WELS Kingdom Workers where he taught English as a second language.  During his time at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, he served as a vicar in Scroggins, TX, where he met his future wife deep in the heart of Texas.  After his vicar year, he served one year in Cameroon, Africa, as an assistant to the missionary.  On July 6, 2012, he was united in marriage to Kate Lightfield.

After graduation, Pastor Hoff was asked to return to Cameroon for a one year call.  Upon returning to the States he received his first assignment to Renton, WA.

Kate was born and raised in Houston, TX.  She is the oldest of three children born to Larry and Jane Lightfield.  She attended Christ the Lord Lutheran School in Houston and spent two years at Luther Preparatory School.  After graduating from public high school in Texas she pursued her dream of playing collegiate softball.  She attended the University of Texas at Dallas for three years before transferring to the University of Texas at Tyler.  She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

Pastor Hoff and Kate have a heart for mission work both at home and abroad.  They enjoy traveling and exploring the great outdoors.  They both have a passion for singing and music which they received from their parents.  The Hoffs thank God for the opportunity He has blessed them with to share in beautiful Renton, WA, the divine peace we possess through Christ Jesus.
